City Of Berkley Adopts Master Plan Update
The City of Berkley states its values of “being caring, innovative and welcoming”* in their Master Plan Update.
The Berkley City Council approved a new Master Plan update on November 15, 2021. The adopted plan “prioritizes and creates a community striving to enhance its economic vitality, preserve neighborhoods, and foster the City’s values.”
CWA was a strategic partner to the Master Plan Steering Committee throughout the 2-year process, assisting with interviews, focus groups, webinars, surveys, social media polls, walking tours, a virtual open house, and more. The entire endeavor was a collaborative effort of “intense community engagement, data analysis, and decision making,” which has resulted in a thorough “road map for land use, development, reinvestment, transportation, and housing to guide the City of Berkley from a known present to an unknown future.”
With guidance from the Master Plan Steering Committee, CWA conducted eight interactive webinars broadcast on the City of Berkley’s WBRK cable station, a virtual open house, and an extensive city-wide survey, during the pandemic. Community engagement throughout the process further emphasized how “essential” a current master plan is to every community and to Berkley now. Most importantly, CWA assisted with the creation of a Master Plan that communicates the vision of the City with realistic steps for City officials, staff, and citizens.
CWA is exceptionally grateful to all of the individuals and organizations who assisted in bringing the new Master Plan to fruition. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the City of Berkley to make their priorities and goals a reality.
