Two CWA clients honored by planners at MAP/MML conference

The Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) and Michigan Municipal League (MML) joined their annual conferences September 19-21. Carlisle/Wortman Associates sponsored the Friday keynote luncheon, provided speakers for three sessions and saw two clients honored in MAP’s annual Planning Excellence Awards.Dick Carlisle was a panelist in the general session “Townhall Live! Bridging the Gap Between Local and State Government” organized by Bridge Magazine and The Center for Michigan. John Enos joined other consultants in a session advising communities how to write effective request for proposals (Here's that presentation) and Paul Montagno  presented “Help!  Can We Really Afford What We Want to Build?” which explored the long term municipal fiscal cost of building new infrastructure.The firm successfully nominated two clients for awards. The Bay City Master Plan received the Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan and Pittsfield Township Supervisor Mandy Grewal received the Outstanding Community Administrator award.[envira-gallery id="1266"]Captions clockwise, starting from top left. 1. This plan was one of six pilot plans that received a grant from MDEG through MAP to develop a resiliency based comprehensive plan for coastal communities.Mandy Grewal has initiated, overseen and implemented multiple planning projects in Pittsfield Township including the 2010 master plan, the zoning ordinance rewrite in 2014 and most recently a joint recreation and master plan. Due to her support and promotion of planning, Pittsfield has experienced an expansion of its multi-modal network, a public arts program, agricultural preservation, and installation of high-speed fiber connectivity. She serves on many boards and commissions including SEMCOG and Ann Arbor SPARK.
