Stephen Cassin and Megan Masson-Minock join our staff
Stephen Cassin, AICP, who spent 12 years as the executive director of the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development, and Megan Masson-Minock, AICP, one of the state’s leaders in food systems planning, have joined the Carlisle/Wortman staff.Cassin has more than 42 years’ experience in land use planning, zoning, community and economic development, municipal administration and finance, and urban design. He previously worked in Clinton Township and with the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. He earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Oakland University.“We’ve seeing increased demand from cities to help with them with their community- and economic development,” said CWA President Dick Carlisle. “Steve’s experience here is stellar. He’ll contribute immediately to several projects.”Masson-Minick has more than 17 years’ experience as in zoning, land use, site plan review and comprehensive planning for municipalities and nonprofits. She most recently worked for the firms of ENP & Associates and M&M Planning. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Bates College and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan.“Megan has been doing some great community engagement work around the state,” Carlisle said. “That plus her broad planning experience make her an excellent addition to our team.”Cassin’s arrival means CWA is home to four past presidents of the Michigan Association of Planning, more than any other planning firm in the state. CWA’s professional staff regularly support their professional organizations as volunteers, writers and speakers and they blog here on planning-related topics.Planners and municipal officials from around the state will be able to learn from Steve and Megan’s contributions to our online publication,” Carlisle said.
